Most people think yoga is the poses. Patanjali listed the poses third out of eight limbs. The first two are about how you treat others.

Yama — ethical restraints: non-violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, continence, non-possessiveness.

Niyama — personal observances: cleanliness, contentment, discipline, self-study, surrender to the divine.

Asana — the postures. Patanjali says only this: the posture should be steady and comfortable.

Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind. Then the seer abides in their own nature.

Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi — breath regulation, withdrawal of the senses, concentration, meditation, absorption. Each prepares the ground for the next.

The goal of this entire architecture is the stilling of the movements of the mind. Everything else is preparation for that stillness.
